Riverland is a member of the Minnesota State system with 30 community and technical colleges and seven state universities. Minnesota State is the largest provider of higher education in Minnesota.

With three campuses in Albert Lea, Austin and Owatonna, Riverland graduates support the economic region in Southern Minnesota which consists of a variety of small to large employers in key industries such as healthcare, food manufacturing, agri-businesses, transportation and distribution sectors.
