Posted: 06-Jul-22 Location: Lincoln, Nebraska Salary: Open Internal Number: 80210 Requisition Number: S_220753 Department: Undergraduate Educ & Student Success-8450 Description of Work: The Project Coordinator will support high impact practices designed to engage students in the research mission of the university and promote participation and access to national and international fellowships. The coordinator is part of a student success team focused on increasing degree completion, closing equity gaps, and building an ecology of validation for UNL's first generation, low-income, and underrepresented ethnic minority scholars. Such work includes administrative and outreach support for the Undergraduate Research and Creative Experiences (UCARE), First Year Research Experiences (FYRE), and National & International Fellowships (NIF) programs. UNL undergraduate research initiatives exist on a solid foundation, with UCARE and FYRE providing funded research opportunities to approximately 300 students annually for over 20 years. National & International Fellowships works closely with Undergraduate Research, the Colleges, and a variety of scholar development and inclusive excellence programs to recruit, advise, and nominate over 100 applicants annually for approximately 30 supported fellowships. The Project Coordinator collaborates extensively with campus teams to implement and deliver robust programming and workshops for undergraduates engaged in UCARE, FYRE, and fellowship programs and coordinates a variety of campus-wide undergraduate research events, including annual research fairs and poster competitions. This position coordinates the UCARE and FYRE application and evaluation processes, including matching students with faculty mentors, communicating with department contacts, and reviewing and selecting applications for travel awards. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for promoting undergraduate research and fellowship opportunities, including creating outreach materials and recruiting students to research and creative activities, and communicating with a pool of faculty mentors and sponsors. Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus one year of demonstrated experience supporting first generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented ethnic minority college students. Experience coordinating processes/projects/programs/events and managing accurate records and small data sets using tools like Excel. Excellent oral and written communication skills essential for designing and delivering presentations and developing promotional materials and web content related to undergraduate research and fellowships. Ability to work effectively and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds required. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-focused environment. Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience supporting student success; retention; research, internship, or fellowship program participation; and/or professional development. Experience assessing academic or student service programs helpful. Experience supervising, training, or mentoring student workers or interns desirable. Experience organizing and leading co-curricular student events (workshops, trainings) desirable. Experience with implementation and assessment of undergraduate research programs (application processes, training, funding, etc.). Experience with writing web or social media content or design of marketing materials helpful. Posted Salary: $43,000/yr minimum Job Type: Full-Time
