Simpson College seeks a highly qualified and experienced leader for the position of Director of Human Resources (HR). The HR Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, and professional development. The HR director is also responsible for the College’s Title IX compliance.

Reporting to the Vice President for Business and Finance, this individual will work closely with college leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with our institutional mission and values. This position supervises the benefits manager and the payroll coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all aspects of the employment lifecycle.
• Directs College wide compliance training.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures that support the mission of the College.
• Provides guidance and support to faculty and staff regarding HR-related concerns.
• Oversees bi-weekly and monthly payroll processes, benefits program and benefit annual renewals.
• Manages the College’s Title IX compliance.
• Serves on various campus committees.
• Plans and executes multiple College wide events.

Education Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in human resources management or business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 - 5 years human resources experience functioning in an HR Generalist, HR Specialist or HR Business Partner.
• Prior experience performing and/or supporting multiple HR functions including recruitment, performance management, employee relations, compensation and classification, and payroll.
• Professional experience building relationships and collaborating effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• A high level of confidentiality.
• Data analytics experience to analyze and report on HR metrics.
• Working knowledge of HR best practices and state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
• Proficiency in computer software applications including Applicant Tracking systems, HR databases and Microsoft Office Suite.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working in a higher education setting.
• Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR) and/or SHRM-CP desired.
