The Departments of Religion and Philosophy at Simpson College invite applications for a tenure-track position in Christian Ethics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin Fall 2024.
Location Simpson’s main campus is in Indianola, Iowa, a part of the Des Moines metropolitan area. Des Moines is the fastest growing metropolitan area in the Midwest, with a population of over 729,000, and economic growth has outpaced the U.S. as a whole. Essential Qualifications: The appointment will begin August 19, 2024. PhD in Religion, Philosophy, or closely related field required; ABD considered. Methodology and area of research expertise within Christian Ethics are open, but the successful candidate must have demonstrated competence in western philosophy more broadly, specifically including applied ethics and feminist ethics. Demonstrated teaching excellence is essential.
The candidate should be prepared to teach courses such as Ethics, Religion, and Conflict; Religion, Ethics, and the Environment; Feminist Ethics; Philosophy of Race; and Theories of Justice.
Preferred Qualifications: Proven ability to engage the interests of non-majors in general education courses. Teaching competency in social justice and postcolonialism. Experience in mentoring undergraduate research and new student recruitment.
About Simpson College
Simpson’s 85-acre campus Indianola campus is a beautiful space and where the majority of classes are offered to their students.
