POSITION: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN CHEMISTRY EFFECTIVE DATE: Fall Semester, 2024 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with training or research experience in the area of biochemistry. DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Postdoctoral research experience and an interest in mentoring undergraduate students in research are desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to teach all levels of undergraduate biochemistry. DUTIES: The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach a range of courses including those designed primarily for Biochemistry majors (e.g. Biochemistry, Biochemical Techniques), foundation courses for Biochemistry, Biology and Nursing majors (e.g. Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Fundamentals of Organic and Biochemistry), and courses in the general education core. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy and a commitment to continued growth in these practices. In addition, the successful candidate will work with department members to develop, provide and/or coordinate on-campus and off-campus undergraduate research experiences for students. Other duties include advising a diverse population of students, and participating in activities that serve the Department, University and community.
