Buena Vista University is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Community & Student Engagement to enhance student involvement, leadership development, and campus connections. This role supports student organizations, oversees student-centered spaces, mentors student leaders, and coordinates key campus events. As a key member of the Community and Student Engagement (CASE) team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues who are passionate about fostering a welcoming and engaging campus environment while contributing to a positive, student-focused work culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support & Advise Student Organizations – Serve as the primary resource for student groups, providing training and leadership development for student leaders and their faculty/staff advisors.
• Lead Student Engagement Spaces – Oversee operations and vision for the Rec House, Game Room, and Geisinger Student Leadership Center (GSLC), ensuring they are thriving student-centered spaces.
• Supervise & Mentor Student Leaders – Hire, train, and support student workers and student coordinators for leadership and service-based programs.
• Coordinate Signature Events – Play a collaborative role in planning The Plunge, Buenafication Day, and other key campus traditions.
• Enhance Campus Involvement – Co-manage Campus Groups, the university’s student organization platform, to streamline engagement and grow participation in student life events.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience in higher education, event planning, student engagement, or a related field preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Passion for working with college students and helping them grow, develop, and succeed through engagement and leadership opportunities.
• Ability to collaborate with campus and community partners to create meaningful opportunities for student involvement.
• Some weekend and evening work is required.
