Internal Number: 43025 Position Number: 009654 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Facility Maintenance Technician – Building Trades performs under the direction of the Renovations supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to: 1. Provide career tracks including but not limited to Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Locksmith, Masonry, Painting, Plastering, and Roofing that perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled. 2. Apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to trade. 3. Conduct maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and regulations. 4. Serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: 1. Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 2. Ability to follow applicable building codes. 3. Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension). 4. Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communications, however, excellent communication skills are preferred. 5. Computer literate. 6. Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. 7. Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 8. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community. 9. Valid driver's license required. The FM Tech Mechanical Trades operates assigned vehicles on and/or off-campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position. 10. Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
