Internal Number: 492748 Des Moines University invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Reporting to the president, the CHRO will lead human resources initiatives to support the University's mission and overall strategic plan. Founded in 1898, DMU is a premier medical and health sciences institution comprising three colleges offering 10 graduate degrees. The programs share a collective strength — a collaborative campus community where students and faculty unite to pursue knowledge and innovation. DMU’s strong reputation in medicine and health sciences is built on the commitment of its faculty who are passionate about training tomorrow’s healthcare heroes with unmatched dedication and uncompromised intention. DMU’s state-of-the-art campus in West Des Moines, Iowa, opened in 2023. The new facilities cater to the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff, fostering an exceptional learning and research environment. DMU has 1,500 students across all three colleges. The Chief Human Resources Officer will have oversight of human resources strategy, processes, policies, and services; specifically in the areas of talent acquisition, benefits administration, performance management, engagement, employee/labor relations, compensation, and training/development. Serving as a collaborative, innovative, and trusted partner across the University. Applicants are required to possess a bachelor's degree, with a preference for a master’s degree. SHRM-SCP certification preferred. A minimum of 10 years of HR experience is required, with at least 5 years in a Director or Executive role. Higher education and/or legal affairs experience is preferred. Successful applicants must possess a demonstrated knowledge of current human resources best practices, experience in organizational behavior, employee/labor relations, compensation, benefits administration, performance management, and employee development. Along with a demonstrated understanding and knowledge of employee engagement and talent acquisition.
