Description of Work:
Develop partnerships to establish and maintain secure electronic exchange of health data between the NE DHHS Nebraska Electronic Surveillance Systems and both Nebraska Health Information Initiative (NeHII) and Nebraska's licensed medical facilities. Projects include but are not limited to syndromic surveillance, electronic laboratory reporting, and electronic case reporting. Responsibilities include coordinating work efforts, preparing project/work plans, monitoring work progress and preparing progress reports. Position confers with Division of Public Health epidemiology and informatics staff to determine the business needs and requirements; analyzes business processes; documents existing business processes and proposed modified processes; and documents appropriate business rules, policies and standards, such as creation and maintenance of implementation guides for data specifications. Position develops business solutions and system specifications and communicates business requirements to application developers. Position identifies and refers system malfunctions to appropriate staff, and may provide training/assistance to end users. Position oversees system testing/performance and assists in establishing/maintaining databases. Success in this position requires the ability to identify client needs and provide solutions relying on strong, proven communication skills and ability to integrate into a work team.
