This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. This position will primarily work the busy hours of 4pm-12pm during flu season. It is an 8 hour shift full time position that rotates every other weekend. As flu season passes, hours will rotate with other shift to include more day shift coverage.

This position located at CHNW in North County will be assisting physicians deliver care to the children and families in an acute care setting. Position provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in an Emergency Department setting; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation, and functions within the scope of practice of midlevel practitioner NP/PA certification, BJC medical by-laws, and, where it exists, the collaborative practice agreement.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Takes active role in triage, advising patients, assessing needs, providing patient care and/or referring to appropriate other caregivers.
Monitors medical condition of patients, documenting charts and reporting changes as necessary.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established hospital standards.
Writes initial histories, assess patients’ conditions and develops individual care plans for patients assigned.
Prepares patient for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment.

Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Assists with research studies, completing the necessary training requirements as needed.
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Missouri by the Missouri Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center
MSN with emphasis in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) program or a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) emphasis with an Emergency Room clinical background.
Please note: FNP or Adult will not qualify
APN licensure or ability to successfully obtain licensure within 3 months of date of hire
Current MO RN licensure
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Currently certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensed as appropriate in the state of Missouri.
A mid-level practitioner who has practiced as an NP/ or PA in a critical care setting for 3+ years
Current or recent hospital experience within the Emergency Department highly preferred
Two plus years’ experience in Pediatric health care
Base pay commensurate with experience.
