Under the general direction of the Head Men’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach responsibilities include, coaching, recruiting, budgeting, team travel, and providing a positive collegiate experience for student-athletes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with set-up and running of team drills; coaches and instructs individual and group sessions as well as technical sessions; and scrimmages with an eye towards individual performance and ways to improve the team and student-athletes.
Educates student-athletes through use of video and on field demonstration.
Organizes the team periodization and manages training loads.
Travels extensively to recruit student-athletes who will help the university to compete on a national level and be successful in the classroom.
Travels occasionally out of country to recruit international student-athletes.
Travel & Budget Management
Assists with setting up hotels, food and travel arrangements.
Maintains program budget.
Works closely with Head Coach and Athletic Business Office regarding expenses.
Assists in creating a positive educational environment and promotes student-athletes personal growth.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators.
Monitors student-athlete academic progress, retention, and graduation.
Performs other related job duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Sports Administrator.
Work requires 1-3 years’ coaching experience required. Preference given to candidates with playing and/or coaching experience at the Division I or professional level. A demonstrated expertise in coaching men’s soccer is required. Experience in GPS analysis. Applicants with sports performance backgrounds with PES, CSCS, and/or SCCC certification preferred. Experience with recruiting software required, ARMS experience preferred. Other requirements include but not limited to:
Ability to successfully pass the NCAA recruiting exam.
Knowledge and compliance of NCAA and conference regulations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to lead and motivate student-athletes is a fundamental competency.
