Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Design (COD) at Iowa State University is accepting applications for an Academic Adviser II. Primary responsibilities include advising a group of undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Design, coordinating academic advising for assigned departments and equipping the departments' faculty for advising, including monitoring and updating student degree audits.
In addition, the Adviser II will advise honors students regarding classes, seminars, and opportunities specifically available to them through the University Honors Program; serving as the COD representative on the University Honors Committee; coordinating with the COD marketing team on continuous improvements of experiences for prospective students and their families; and assisting the College with the coordination enrollment management criteria.
The successful candidate will successfully communicate verbally, visually, and in writing; have excellent computer skills; and strong interpersonal skills. The candidate will also possess knowledge of student development, the ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts, and the ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Experience that demonstrates knowledge of student information/degree audit systems -Experience that demonstrates knowledge of University administrative processes and procedures -Experience in Academic Advising at an institution of higher learning
